Comments = This is an oldie but a goodie!
The first
one I bought used was in 1989 when I was first licensed. I now am the
proud owner of the second one since the first was so good to me and I am
allowing it take a much needed retirement for a backup.
Although it is
considered a vintage radio, I must say, it does an excellent job on
transmit and receive.
It is ALL analog and all solid state, the
kind you can repair easily if you have the skills. The VFO gearing is all
brass and rock solid.
All knobs, switches and controls are large and
are not those tiny little pin point types that you find on the modern
rigs. The metering is large and well lighted and not digital. It does have
a digital plus analog frequency readout for the VFO. I have never gotten a
bad audio report with it using just a standard hand mic.
It covers all
HF bands with about 100 watts out, plus or minus..what more could you want
in an oldie but goodie?
Need a good notch filter...it has a fantastic
one that works great!
All of these features and lots more make it a
pleasure to operate.
If you can find one in good condition, don't pass
it up at any reasonable price...you will be glad you did. Needless to say,
I highly recommend it with flying colors!
