time. Hamuniverse.com is a FREE HAM RADIO WEBSITE available to all ham radio amateurs and those interested in Amateur Radio (ham radio), and other related topics. The site was started in October, 2000 (Earth Time) as a help and information site for the new Ham Radio operator, the seasoned operator, or for those interested in getting into our fantastic "Universe" of Ham Radio and with the KIND help of contributing hams from around our "Universe". The site has grown to what it is today with millions of visitors and 100's of pages and counting and is growing in size and popularity by leaps and bounds! We have thousands of loyal viewers who keep coming back for more. This site was started as a sub-hobby of Amateur radio to provide another source for Ham Radio Operators worldwide to get more of the popular information they need to enjoy our fantastic "hobby" and like our Universe....is constantly expanding. As you may have noticed, the web site address is: www.hamuniverse.com. The .com in the address has been assigned as "commercial" in url lingo. Although it is considered "commercial" due to the .com in the url, it was not designed for the express purpose of making money and will never be a "Commercial site" as such. We had to go "dot com" to get more bandwidth than you get with a "personal site" Our old site was literally cut off at times due to bandwidth limits! Our prime purpose for being on the internet is to provide FREE, reliable information about Ham Radio for those who do not have someone around the corner to get FREE reliable info about Amateur Radio subjects of interest like some of you may have. I know from first hand experience that getting information about a particular subject can be very expensive to go out and purchase in book form. I personally have spent literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars on Ham Radio information over my life time as a Ham before the internet existed. When I first used the internet several years ago to search for Ham Radio antenna information.....I was stunned at the amount of information that was available.... and a lot of it was FREE! I soon realized that the reason it was FREE was because of many dedicated people in the Ham Radio hobby worldwide who "gave" their time, hard work, experimentation, resources, money and expert input to the web sites that existed to make the information free! I "contribute" to this "Universal" worldwide effort every day, week and month of the year to make our "Hobby" more enjoyable for those looking for FREE information and by promoting Amateur Radio to my non-ham friends, and neighbors. I receive NO outside funds from investors, partners, etc, and in short all of the money that it takes to operate HAMUNIVERSE.COM COMES OUT OF MY BACK POCKET first, and then from very limited "income" from a few affiliate adds and my time spent on the building and maintaining of the site is at no charge.
