& RCI-2970DX Transceivers
(Perfectly legal for Licensed Amateur Radio
Operator use within Part 97 Rules and regulations.) They are NOT legal for
sale or use on the CB band!

bands, with a Technician class license or
higher and a limited budget, here is an inexpensive way to get
on 10 meter voice ssb operation or CW! These
10/12 meter ham radios can be bought new for hundreds of dollars
less than a full blown, multiband HF transceiver with lots of
features, modes and extras you will not be authorized to use unless
you are a General class license holder or higher class
operator!
The 10 meter band is rapidly
increasing in activity on a daily basis now in 2009 and will reach a
peak around the year 2012/13 according to the experts. The Ranger DX
ham radio transceiver models listed below will certainly get you on
the air on the 10 meter Technician voice portion of the band in style and
they are perfectly legal for ham radiio use!
With a
cool, cost effective, multimode 10 meter ham radio in your "shack" or in
your mobile, and a simple antenna, you will be all set for some great 10
meter worldwide fun! You can even homebrew your antenna for fixed station
use very easily or cut down an old CB steel whip for the 10 meter
band...Yes, even 25 watts is more than enough with good band conditions!
150 watts is that much better! This author has literally worked the world
with 5 to7 watts ssb when the band was wide open with just a simple
dipole up about 15 feet!
Ranger Communications has been around for
a long time and are very popular among 10 meter operators with good reviews from those who have used them in their 10
meter station setups. Good service information is widely available on the
web for free!
One huge advantage is that the Ranger RCI-2950DX
& RCI-2970DX can be purchased new for several hundred dollars LESS
than the other all band hf radios that have way too many bells and
whistles and all the frills, and don't forget that 100 page operator's
manual you have to memorize with all those fancy rigs!
So if your looking for a 10 meter ham radio
transceiver that will do everything your Technician class license
will allow on 10 meters, plus 12 meters for that General class, then read

 Ranger RCI-2950DX shown
Ranger Communications once again sets the performance and
reliability standard for entry level amateur mobile transceivers with the
latest generation of their popular RCI-2950/70 series of cost
effective, multi mode, high performance transceivers.
Introducing
the new RCI-2950DX & RCI-2970DX. These new DX models feature
microprocessor control of not one but two
amateur bands, 10 meters and 12 meters.
The new RCI-2950DX,
rated at 25W PEP and the RCI-2970DX, rated at 150W
PEP are perfect for the recent band openings on 10 and 12 meters.
Now you can upgrade your mobile Ham radio capabilities with
a transceiver that is rich in features and reasonable in cost.
The new DX models have retained the operating features of its
popular predecessors, including programmable repeater offset and
capabilities for a CTCSS tone option — great for increasing repeater
activity on 10 meters if you have the
privileges — and receiver scanning for quick search of active
frequencies. The units offer three methods of frequency selection,
non-volatile memory to store and scan up to ten favorite frequencies, and
front panel frequency selector lockout.
In addition,
the RCI-2950DX & RCI-2970DX Series offers an impressive array of
design and performance improvements:
— An improved
receiver: designed for increased sensitivity and image
rejections.
— A double FET balanced mixer: for improved
receiver intermodulation rejection.
— New power supply
protection: and temperature compensation for improved stability and
reliability over wide temperature ranges.
— Surface
mount components: for increased resistance to shock and
vibration.
— Improved display lighting: Green Backlite for easy
reading in a wide range of light conditions.
— Variable
Power Output from 150 watts to 2 watts depending on model - great for
PSK-31 operation, CW, SSB, both upper and lower, or other modes including
AM, FM .

Address Feature | Warranty Period change! Now 2
years! Ranger Communications,
Inc., (RCI) is pleased to announce that the warranty period on the new
RCI-2950DX and RCI-2970DX has been increased from the previous 1 year time
period to a full 2 year warranty. This includes
parts and labor. Ranger believes that with the new surface mount
technology (SMT) implemented within the design of these models, the
resistance to shock and vibration has greatly increased and the DX Series
should have the longer warranty period.

Base Station
Application:
For
use of the RCI-2950DX in a base station application, a recommended power
supply is the Astron RS-5A or higher amperage equivalent. For the
RCI-2970DX, a recommended power supply is the Astron RS-20A or
higher equivalent. CAUTION: Please be aware
some "switching power supplies" can generate noise that will get into the
receiver. Do your research!
