Tom, KC8QGJ, above, claims to be retired, but we think he was just too ugly for his job, so they released him into the wild where he could spend more time with his Ham radio friends!

WHAT IS THE 1721 GROUP?
"
Just a big ham radio family"
Our (your) group presently is composed of hams from all over the U.S and Canada who join in friendly an very informal QSO'S between each other in an orderly "roundtable" style.

No one is king of the hill and every on gets their turn/s.
You might say we have
organized confusion! Hi!

Tom, KC8QGJ,  CALLS CQ TO THE GROUP FROM OHIO STARTING ABOUT 8:00PM EDST AND IS ASSISTED BY KC8SGO, WB9GQW and KB3HQV or others WHO KEEP TOM GOING!

THE GROUP WAS ORIGINALLY STARTED JANUARY 27, 2002 WITH JUST A handful OF HAMS INCLUDING:
KC8QGJ TOM
KC8SGO MARK
N1ZNE FRANK
W9KBR BRUCE
KB2DYB DENNIS
WB9GQW ED  (relays) This guy can hear an ant sneeze a mile away!
KB3HQV RAY (LOADS OF HELP, hay! hay!)
K8WLF (FRITZ)
They ALL deserve lots of credit for getting it all together, keeping it going and spreading the word!
(If we have not listed others that are due credit, please let Tom, KC8QGJ, know.)

(FOOTNOTE ADDED BY YOUR WEBMISTER)
"IF YOU ADD THE NUMBERS TOGETHER IN THE
1721
GROUP,
YOU GET 11....A LUCKY NUMBER FOR YOU!"

TOM, KC8QGJ, ASKED ME TO GIVE LOTS OF CREDIT TO MYSELF, (N4UJW), FOR THIS PAGE,
HOWEVER.......
IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THAT, I SPILLED COFFEE ALL OVER THE KEYBOARD WHICH GOT DOWN INTO THE COMPONENTS, SHORTED SOMETHING OUT, SPARKS FLEW, SMOKE POURED OUT AND THE KEY BOARD WENT WILD, SHOOTING KEYS EVERYWHERE INCLUDING THE ONE THAT HIT MY XYL BETWEEN HER EYES RESULTING IN SOME WORDS FROM HER THAT WERE
SO INTENSE THAT MY COMPUTER AND THE SERVER CRASHED! SO I WAS UNABLE TO TYPE THE WORDS BELOW THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE!

"THESE WEB PAGES DESIGNED, MESSED UP, TORN TO PIECES, OBLITERATED  AND DONATED BY
N4UJW @ Hamuniverse.com.

IT WAS MY PLEASURE TO ADD IT TO HAMUNIVERSE.COM TO HELP PROMOTE "THE 1721 GROUP AND HAM RADIO".
"
THEY MADE ME FEEL AT HOME!"
You may even hear me in the group from time to time.
I'll be the one with the weakest signal and the Tennessee accent from Texas!

Email from our members:

"I have to tell you, this is probably the best web site I have ever had the pleasure of visiting, keep up the good work, and we need to press hard for old TOM, Hi Hi, to keep fishing because I will be at the fest this year, and since I'm on the road, driving a truck all over this good old USA, it sure is good to hear the band and my ham family back.
It was a long and lonley winter without the 1721 group..
73's Dave Roberts" (kc9cdr)

Here is the latest from an Ole timer who is no longer with us. He certainly knows his stuff!
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat.
You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles.
Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way:
you send signals here, they receive them there.
The only difference is that there is no cat."

Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio
US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955)
